A social ride up Rapaki Track and Bowenvale Traverse Track.
Rapaki Track is an intermediate grade 4WD track, 3.5km uphill, which takes a reasonably fit person 45-minutes to ride. Bowenvale Traverse and Mt Vernon is a 5.5 km single track, undulating with some challenging rocky features (which can be walked if necessary). Return the same way, so 18km return.
Bring your own mountain bike in good working condition. There is no bike hire at the start so please organise your own hire (if necessary) with a bike shop. You must have working brakes and off-road tyres. You must have a correctly fitted bike helmet, suitable clothing for the weather conditions, water and food. Highly recommended is gears, suspension, gloves and a bike repair kit.
You will be guided by an experienced volunteer from the Canterbury Mountain Bike Club. You ride at your own risk – please be responsible whilst riding and ride to your experience and fitness ability.
You do not need to be a club member to attend this ride, just come along and see if you enjoy riding with us!
[This ride will be edited to just Rapaki Track if it is raining or has been raining recently as the single tracks will be closed].
