Where to Get a Bike

Keen to take part in Biketober but don't have a bike?

There are a few options available to you:

Get your own bike
  • There are plenty of bike shops around Christchurch that can supply a wide range of bikes for all occasions, including sporty bikes, city bikes, e-bikes, and cargo bikes.

  • Christchurch has two bike maintenance and repair initiatives, RAD Bikes and ICEcycles, that can provide people with refurbished bikes for low cost or even free.

  • Why not visit the NZ Bike Expo on the weekend of 13-14 October, where there will be all kinds of special deals on bikes on display?

Borrow a bike
  • If you're a student at the University of Canterbury then you can borrow a bike from their collection on campus for free.

  • There are plenty of bike rental places in Christchurch that enable you to get a bike (including e-bike options) for a few hours or a few weeks.

  • Some Biketober events allow you to borrow a bike on the day. Check the event details and contact the event organiser in advance.
